photos, and blue, technical “Matrix”-inspired imagery. When we set out to present our new internal method for working with security, we wanted to challenge those tropes and find a new way to talk about and visualize security.
The goal was to spark curiosity and engagement — not just understanding. Security often ends up in the category of “necessary but dull,” both in visual communication and cross-disciplinary processes. Even though most buyers of digital services value security, research and practice show that it’s often deprioritized when the focus is on creating engaging solutions.
Studies from Snyk and Secure Code Warrior show that more than 60% of developers don’t see security as a priority, while Security Journey and Endor Labs describe how security is often perceived as bureaucratic and uninspiring. We wanted to change that perception — to make the work around security accessible, visually engaging, and meaningful even to those who don’t work with it daily. Not by simplifying it, but by revealing the value of what happens beneath the surface.
